PHP's str_rot13 in TypeScript

✓ Verified: PHP 8.3
Examples tested against actual runtime. CI re-verifies continuously. Only documented examples are tested.

How to use

Install via yarn add locutus and import: import { str_rot13 } from 'locutus/php/strings/str_rot13'.

Or with CommonJS: const { str_rot13 } = require('locutus/php/strings/str_rot13')

Use a bundler that supports tree-shaking so you only ship the functions you actually use. Vite, webpack, Rollup, and Parcel all handle this. For server-side use this is less of a concern.

Examples

These examples are extracted from test cases that automatically verify our functions against their native counterparts.

#codeexpected result
1str_rot13('Kevin van Zonneveld')'Xriva ina Mbaariryq'
2str_rot13('Xriva ina Mbaariryq')'Kevin van Zonneveld'
3str_rot13(33)'33'

Here's what our current TypeScript equivalent to PHP's str_rot13 looks like.

export function str_rot13(str: string | number): string {

// parity verified: PHP 8.3
// original by: Jonas Raoni Soares Silva (https://www.jsfromhell.com)

// bugfixed by: Onno Marsman (https://twitter.com/onnomarsman)
// example 1: str_rot13('Kevin van Zonneveld')
// returns 1: 'Xriva ina Mbaariryq'
// example 2: str_rot13('Xriva ina Mbaariryq')
// returns 2: 'Kevin van Zonneveld'
// example 3: str_rot13(33)
// returns 3: '33'

return (str + '').replace(/[a-z]/gi, function (s) {
return String.fromCharCode(s.charCodeAt(0) + (s.toLowerCase() < 'n' ? 13 : -13))
})
}

Improve this function

Locutus is a community effort following The McDonald's Theory: we ship first iterations, hoping others will improve them. If you see something that could be better, we'd love your contribution.
